veryone is in their correct positon, in order, ready for role-call.
But someone is absent.
Absent from role call.
The King wonders aloud why he does not see him, then asks, “Or is he from those who are absent?”
The King: “I shall surely punish him severely or shall execute him.” He is a firm leader. A very firm one.
“Unless he presents me with a credible excuse.” But a just leader. A very just one.
Who is absent, what is his excuse, and shall the King accept it?

What is it?
It is something perfected, completed, and approved..
Something specific….
A true blessing…

It is ISLAM!
Proof?
This beautiful, touching, important, excerpt of a verse in Surat AlMaidah.
Find out what it is, when it was revealed, an why Omar bin AlKhattab
cried when he heard it…
Procrastinate Procrastination… (until never) June 15, 2009

We are all guilty of it.
- “I’ll start next week.”
- “Just after I (insert-useless-task-here)“
- “I don’t feel like it right now.”
And we all want to cure it.
But procrastination is NOT an orphan. It has a parent cause. It might just be laziness and boredom, usually due to Shaitaan’s whipsers. It may be a fear of the task. It may be a lack of motivation, and it maybe the willingness to settle for less than excellence.
Sometimes the difference between greatness and excellence, is nothing more than a fleeting second.
Here is the story of one critical moment in the life of a Sahabi (companion of Prophet Mohammad salla allahu allayhe wa salam).
Let us learn from that moment. The moment that made all the difference.
The Whispered Secret in the Ant Valley… June 11, 2009

Once upon a time, in a nearby or faraway land (depending on where you live), there lived a fair and just King. This King was well-respected, and his kingdom spread far and wide. All the creatures of this kingdom were obedient and orderly under his outstanding rule. Everyone lived in harmony and peace. This King, had been given a special “Power”, a “Gift”. He could communicate with and understand animals.
His name was King Solomon.
He was a Prophet.
And this story…ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls…. is NON-fiction.
This is Someone’s Home… June 7, 2009

Someone's Home
You see a picture of this random house.
If you could ask one question about it,
What would you ask?
One possibility might be, “Who’s house is this?” Not a surprising or illogical question to ask, right? Nothing out of the ordinary? You might ask where it is located, how old it is, or a number of other questions.
Hassan bin Sinan-a Tabi’ee (someone from the generation after the companions)- once came across a house he had never seen. He asked himself, “When was this house built?”
He immediatley followed that question with another one. A pressing one. A serious one.

You tilt your head to your right shoulder and whisper your ‘salaams‘ .
You tilt your head to your left shoulder and do the same.
Sitting peacefully after Salah, you begin to recite your athkaar (supplications).
Then you get to one supplication, authentic and very common, and, if you don’t speak Arabic, may or may not understand it. If you speak Arabic, then you may understand only half of it….
اللَّهُمَّ لا مانِعَ لما أعْطَيْتَ ، وَلا مُعْطيَ لما مَنَعْتَ ، ولا ينْفَعُ ذا الجَدِّ مِنْكَ الجَدُّ
Transliteration: Allahuma la mane’a lima a’tayt wa la mu’teeya lima mana’t wa la yanfa’u tha aljadda minka aljaddu
Translation: (Would defeat the purpose of this post momentarily.)
To understand this du’aa, and who the “Lucky Duck” of the title of this post is…
Read on, inshAllah.

"Magic" carpet ride...
It is going to be “A Whole New World….A Whole New Place…” Jasmin and Aladdin sang to the world with love and amazement glittering in their eyes…
Where? How? “On a magic carpet ride…”
Disney did its job. Childrens’ eyes stare in wonder…
Their imagination-(or what is left of it after many mind-numbing television hours)-begins to soar…
A magic carpet ride? WOWW….Amazzzzzzing…I wish…I wish…I wish…
And off they run to get the kitchen rug and try it out themselves…
It is a dazzling scene, thought, idea…
But why haven’t these children been dazzled by Surat Al-Israa?
Surat Al-Israa?? Magic carpet ride?? What???????
