The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is reported to have said:

Ya-Sin is the heart of the Qur’an. The one who recites it solely for Allah’s Sake, his sins will be forgiven. Read it on behalf of your dead” (At-Tirmidhi).

Surah_Yasin_by_phyla28.jpg (4676×3130)

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as saying,

“Reciting Ya-Sin at the beginning of the day makes the rest of the day easy for the person till night approaches. Also, reciting it with the approach of the night makes the rest of the night easy till the next day.”

The Heart of the Quran.

InshAllah I want us to start Tafseer for Surat Yasin together. I’m really excited to start at Ayah 13 though, so for the first 12 Ayahs I thought we would do some general “HeartBeats” (reflections).  Here are some of mine, please don’t hesitate to share yours!

Who’s Iblees’s Devil? September 11, 2009

in Jannah,

Adam was first created by Allah azza wa jal.  But when Allah ordered Iblees to prostate to Adam, Iblees refused-thereby committing the first sin in time…

When we disobey Allah, more often than not we jump to blame Shaytan’s whispers.  But when Iblees on that day had that audacity to refuse Allah’s commands, what devil, what being, what source of evil whispered to him?

10 Reasons I Hate the Mall September 5, 2009

So.  I was at the mall for some last minute Eid shopping today (the kind everyone warns you not to waste your time in Ramadan doing- rightfully so) and we were looking for some shoes when I *overheard* a very loud conversation between a mother and her 10-going-on-30 daughter…Pretty much word for word:
pink_shoes
Daughter: Look at these SHOES!!
Mother: Ohh WOOOW!! Those are greaaat!!! How much are those?
Daughter: 15 bucks.
Mother: They are so pretty!
Daughter: Don’t you wish we were fabulously wealthy?
Mother: Oh ya!  We would have everything
Daughter: We would have every shoe here!

GAGS. *Shudders*.  GAGS AGAIN.

There are reasons I hate the mall…hearing these types of conservations is one example…But it really makes me think

I’ve recently become obsessed interested in the name/word “Ameen” أمين. The reason for that being-well, a short story that out of my love and sympathy I shall spare you from reading.  So anyway I looked for the word “Ameen” أمين as mentioned in the Quran and Hadeeth…..I hope you enjoy what I found as much as I enjoyed reading about it…

I don’t know how to begin this post except to just jump right into the story.

Dr.Imad Hasan is a Sudanese Muslim psychiatrist that lives and works in London, England.   He is also active in Daw’ah-and doesn’t take pride in that but rather considers it every Muslim’s duty….A couple years ago, Dr.Imad  published an interesting research “paper” (a 400 page BOOK) titled “Cattle’s Ears”.  The subject of the book isn’t my point of interest right now.

But who the book is dedicated to, and the story of that dedication (found in the introduction) is…well…subhanAllah…

“Why is mommy crying?”
My little brother was asking me that the other day as he saw my mom crying while reciting Quran.
Hmmm…how do you explain that to a six-year-old who hasn’t yet developed those types of emotions?
“Because she understands the words of the Quran and is really touched by them.”
“But why is she
crying?”
“Because…because just thinking about the words makes her feel really sad…”

SubhanAllah it brings back a memory of myself around 8 years ago asking a similar question to my aunt in Ramadan.  We had gone to the masjid for taraweeh, and I was certain that I was the only female that walked out with dry eyes and was excluded from the ritual of emptying out tissue boxes.  Yet I was sure that I was the natural one…nothing sad had happened, right??

Releasing Burdens… August 27, 2009

Everytime I move from place to place, everytime I travel, I realize that I am able to take less and less with me.

It is a mixture of learning priorities, yearning for easy travel, and reaching the level of  “letting go” from materialism.  We really need much, much less of this dunya than we imagine.

The best feeling ever is when you are able to travel with nothing but your small carry-on…..and be content with that.  No “stuff” to worry about, no huge amounts of luggage to weigh and ship…nothing but the necessities. Often we think that getting more “stuff” will make us happier, when in fact it only adds weight to our lives; volume to our worries.

I found a story of Sahabi (companion of the Prophet salla allahu allayhe wa salam) that was relevant to this topic.  It’s a short, sweet incident relayed by the Sahabi’s grandson.  His grandson had originally heard it from his grandma–i.e the Sahabi’s wife.  Read on for the story of this Sahabi’s release of burdens…

Purification before Beautification…..

التخلية قبل التخلية

It is a simple concept:
You can’t put jewels into a treasure box filled with trash.
You can’t fill  Iman in a heart filled with sins.
You can’t enter Ramadan without proper preparation in Sha’baan.

Missing You… August 3, 2009

Counting down the days..I_Miss_you
Until I meet you once again…
After a bittersweet farewell …
Your memory close at heart yet so far away..

You lift my heart and soul to its highest…

The ache of missing you churns within..
And when a lover misses their beloved…
The reunion is ever so delightful…
Every moment is special…
Not a second is wasted…
And every drop of attention is given and directed…
Towards that beloved…

Missing you only multiplies my love for you…
So the more days I miss you,
the more I shall love you,
the more I shall want to meet you.

I miss you dearly…May Allah allow me the chance to meet you once again…
